First UK showing for new John Deere high-horsepower tractors at Tillage-Live 2026

UK farmers and contractors can see John Deere’s new high-horsepower tractor range together for the first time this month.

Following major launches and significant model year updates, visitors to Tillage-Live will see a mix of working demonstrations and static displays of the 8R, 8RX and 9RX models.

The new 8R 540 was launched in America in February, and the Cambridgeshire show will be its full UK public debut. Capable of a maximum output of 634hp, John Deere will bring the machine in both wheeled 8R and tracked 8RX specifications.

Model year 2027 updates to the standard 8R and 8RX range included a new CommandView 4 cab and revised exterior styling which have also not yet been seen publicly in the UK.

The world’s largest production tractor, John Deere’s 9RX 830, will also be in attendance following many appearances at agricultural shows over the past 14 months.

Chris Wiltshire, John Deere’s Tactical Marketing Manager in the UK and Ireland, said: “Each of the tractors at Tillage-Live represents a major step forward in the high-horsepower segment, and this is the first time UK farmers and contractors will be able to see them all together in one place.

“The line-up brings together the biggest launches we have made in the sector over the past three years, and gives visitors the chance to compare them side by side.”

8R 540

Unveiled at the Commodity Classic show in San Antonio in February 2026, the new three-model 8R high-horsepower range represents a fundamental rethink of what a standard-framed tractor can deliver.

At Tillage-Live visitors can see the largest models – the 8R 540 and 8RX 540 – which are powered by the 13.6-litre, six-cylinder JD14 engine; the same unit found in the X9 combine and the 9 Series tractors.

The eAutoPowr transmission comes as standard across the range. Its electric drive configuration reduces power losses compared with a conventional mechanical transmission and enables the wheeled 8R 540 to reach transport speeds of up to 60kph.

The cab carries over the CommandView 4 design from John Deere’s combines and 9RX tractors. Operators benefit from a next-generation seat with neck ventilation, the redesigned CommandARM with electric adjustment, and a Convenience Display for personalised seat and control settings.

Push-button start uses a four-digit PIN that simultaneously recalls each operator’s preferred seat position and control preferences.

At the opposite end of the speed spectrum, fully electric drive below 5kph delivers precise, maximum-torque control for demanding tasks such as silage pushing or heavy PTO work.

Completing the Tillage-Live line-up is the John Deere 9RX 830.

The JDX18 engine delivers up to 4,234Nm of torque in the top model. Three hydraulic pumps provide a maximum flow of up to 636 litres per minute. 

The 1,952-litre fuel tank can be filled in as little as four minutes using the available fast-fill system, and there is no requirement for AdBlue.

Power reaches the ground through an e21 powershift transmission driving four rubber tracks, and the machine can run at up to 38.1 tonnes ballasted. Ground pressure, despite that weight, remains as low as 0.58kg per cm², which is comparable to far smaller tractors in the range.

At the show

John Deere will be on stand at Tillage 2026 with all four models on display. Working demonstrations of the high-horsepower tractor range will take place on cultivated ground during the event.

Visitors are encouraged to see the machines working and speak with John Deere product specialists on site.
